A huge day for the Eagles as the compilation album, “Their Greatest Hits (1971 – 1975)” was certified as the best-selling album of the 20th century by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was certified 29x platinum – 29 million albums shipped – in 2006.

Released on February 17, 1976 the album debuted at #4 on the US Billboard 200 album chart. The next week it took the #1 spot where it stayed for 5 weeks, being bumped by Peter Frampton’s “Frampton Comes Alive”.

    I can proudly say that I am “one” of the 29 million fans that bought that album!!! To be the biggest selling album in the U. S. in the 20th century speaks volumes (literally)of the huge impact Eagles music has had on our society!
